About Me

Educational History:

I was born and raised in Enid.  I grew up singing, playing the piano, and the French Horn.   I went to Adams Elementary Schoool, Longfellow Junior High, graduated from Enid High School in 2000.  To continue my education I went to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK.  While there I played in the Cowboy Marching band, OSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Basketball Spirit Band, and also sang with the OSU Women's Choir.

Degrees and Certifications:

I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education with a Vocal Certification. Shortly after college I also received my certification in Early Childhood Education.

Professional Development:

Other certifications received after college include, Feierabend’s First Steps in Music (2015), and National Kodaly Certification (2018).

Current Position:

This will be my 12th year teaching and my 4th year teaching Music at Monroe Elementary.   I teach K-5 Music and after school choir and music clubs.  Music is such an important part of my life and sharing it is a true source or joy.

Previous Position:

I previosly taught a 2nd grade class at Highland Park Elementary in Woodward, OK.  This was such a great experience for me and teaching there helped me to incorporate several cross-curricular ideas into my music classroom. I believe music can teach, not just notes and rhythms, but also so many concepts from Math, Language, Social Studies, Reading and Science
