I was born and raised in Enid. I grew up singing, playing the piano, and the French Horn. I went to Adams Elementary Schoool, Longfellow Junior High, graduated from Enid High School in 2000. To continue my education I went to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. While there I played in the Cowboy Marching band, OSU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Basketball Spirit Band, and also sang with the OSU Women's Choir.
I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2005 with a Bachelor's in Instrumental Music Education with a Vocal Certification. Shortly after college I also received my certification in Early Childhood Education.
Other certifications received after college include, Feierabend’s First Steps in Music (2015), and National Kodaly Certification (2018).
This will be my 12th year teaching and my 4th year teaching Music at Monroe Elementary. I teach K-5 Music and after school choir and music clubs. Music is such an important part of my life and sharing it is a true source or joy.
I previosly taught a 2nd grade class at Highland Park Elementary in Woodward, OK. This was such a great experience for me and teaching there helped me to incorporate several cross-curricular ideas into my music classroom. I believe music can teach, not just notes and rhythms, but also so many concepts from Math, Language, Social Studies, Reading and Science.
